泰王国驻华大使馆代表出席哈尔滨工程大学第九届国际文化节

On 27 September 2026, Mr. Sarun Haetanurak, Minister-Counsellor, together with Ms. Papada Pakdethanakul, First Secretary, Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, attended the 9th International Cultural Festival organized by Harbin Engineering University (HEU) in Harbin. The opening ceremony featured remarks by Mr. Yin Hang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Harbin Engineering University Committee and Vice President of the University, and Mr. Cai Weichun, Level-2 Inspector of Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province and Secretary-General of the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

On this occasion, Minister-Counsellor Sarun held discussions with Mr. Yin Hang. The University delegation also included Mr. Dou Zheng, Director of the International Office; and Mr. Ding Xuezhong, Dean of the College of International Cooperative Education. The Thai delegation comprised representatives from the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University: Ms. Pattaraporn Poskanitkul, Vice Dean, and Ms. Nawaporn Saengdaeng, International Relations Officer. Also in attendance were representatives—including school principals—from six Thai secondary schools that have collaboration agreements with Harbin Engineering University: Suankularb Wittayalai Thonburi School, Wat Nong Khaem Secondary School, Sikan (Wattananan Uppatham) School, Jaeng Ron Witthaya School, Wat Phuttha Bucha School, and Nawaminthrachinuthit Suankularb Wittayalai Samut Prakan School. Additionally, representatives from the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in China and the Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in China participated in the discussion.

During the discussion, Minister-Counsellor Sarun commended HEU’s pivotal role in developing personnel with expertise, particularly in marine engineering, nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence, which are crucial fields for socio-economic development and security in this new era.

Furthermore, Minister-Counsellor Sarun expressed his appreciation for the care and support provided to the more than 100 Thai students currently studying at HEU, and welcomed the close relationship and educational cooperation between Thailand and China.

This is particularly evident in the ongoing collaboration between HEU and Mahidol University, as well as the 154 Thai secondary schools. Such collaboration not only offers young people from both nations opportunities to develop their academic and cultural skills, but also serves as a vital foundation for fostering people-to-people ties and long-term mutual understanding. In closing, Minister-Counsellor Sarun reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to support and promote cooperation between Thai and Chinese academic institutions, as well as to foster collaboration in other areas of mutual benefit.

Following the opening ceremony, representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing visited the Thai students' cultural booth, which showcased unique aspects of Thai culture at the International Cultural Festival, and also the Mahidol University booth, which promoted academic programs for international students. They also met and engaged in conversations with the Thai students and representatives from Mahidol University, highlighting the active participation of youth in cultural exchange and the promotion of mutual understanding between Thailand and China.
